|One of the secrets of Panama is the Cucua. Many cultural dance groups in panama are well known but they are not from such a remote place. The name Cucua is the name of the tree that the uniforms are made of. The Cucua tree bark is peeled and cured, then painted using inks made of berry's and roots. One uniform may take months to make. The women wear traditional Panamanian dresses.
Olmedo Working The Tradition
The head piece is adorned with the antlers of local dear. A further enhancement are the teeth of mountain lions that live in the vicinity. Olmedo's family has been Cucua since the originals of hundreds of years ago.
